Course

The content of the Master's Degree in Management, Economics and Finance is based on the strategic importance of the management of financial resources, and marketing and industrial management policies, as well as the economic and quantitative analysis of the context in which companies operate; these enable the competitiveness of modern businesses, both small and large, in a constantly evolving economic and social scenario.

From this perspective and through its division into three curricula—Finance, Marketing and Operations Management, and Economics—the Master's Degree in Management, Economics, and Finance aims to provide the most advanced specialised skills to develop professional profiles, at management level, in three areas.

The first, Finance, focuses on management of financial resources, both in non-financial companies and in the management of financial intermediation and insurance activities.

The second, Marketing and Operations Management, aims to provide the tools for defining business strategies aimed at acquiring and maintaining a long-term competitive advantage. Students will develop the skills necessary for correctly defining processes and for designing and implementing appropriate marketing and sales policies.

The third, Economics, focuses on analysis and interpretation of the local and international economic and financial contexts within which businesses operate, in order to understand dynamics and guide medium- to long-term processes with economic and quantitative skills.

To this end, the Master's Degree programme in Management, Economics, and Finance combines a practical and operational approach with a comprehensive vision and attention to the evolution of internal and external scenarios within a company.

Key features
  • The Master of Science programme (MSc) is divided into three strongly professional paths that meet the demands of the job market: ‘Marketing and Operations Management’, ‘Economics’, and ‘Finance’ (the Finance curriculum is taught entirely in English). Financial resource management, marketing policies and business process management, as well as economic and quantitative analysis of the context in which companies operate, are strategically important for the competitiveness of modern organisations, both small and large, in a constantly evolving market landscape.
  • The training programme was developed through active collaboration of professionals and experts from the industrial and service sectors, who also participate in teaching activities with Elective Courses. The aim of these courses is to enable a direct link between students and the world of industry already in university, and to align the demand and supply of specialised skills.
  • Other aspects that make the programme unique include: innovative teaching (also in English); opportunities to study and work abroad; the acquisition of digital and soft skills; and participation in competitions proposed by companies. An excellent faculty and the presence of foreign visiting professors enable teaching and research on advanced topics; an excellent ratio between the number of faculty and the number of enrolled students ultimately allows for fruitful interaction.
  • Students enrolled in the Finance programme at MEF, who meet certain curricular requirements and are in the second year of their course, can take advantage of the study and international opportunities provided by the "Coordinated Academic Programme Agreement (CAP)", recently signed with the Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, New Jersey, US). The CAP offers students the opportunity to attend the entire second year at the US partner site, which recognises the first-year UPO courses. Upon completion of their studies, in addition to the MEF Master's degree, the student also receives a Master of Science in Finance degree, awarded by Stevens Institute of Technology.
  • students enrolled in the second year of MEF will be able to participate, without having to pay the relevant enrolment fees, in the Elective courses (up to 5) of the Masters offered by the Bayes Business School, City, University of London, whose Masters programmes are ranked by the Financial Times as 22nd in the world, 5th in the United Kingdom and 3rd in the City of London. Successful completion of the Elective Course exam at Bayes will allow the recognition of two (2) curricular credits in the student's study plan. The selection of students, who will also be able to access Free Mover scholarships of Eastern Piedmont, is carried out on the basis of certain curricular requirements.
  • MEF students can undertake study/work programmes abroad, taking advantage of Erasmus and Free Mover programmes.
  • MEF master's students graduate faster than the national average and are generally more satisfied with their studies (source: AlmaLaurea, Graduate Profile 2020, XXII Survey 2021); they also quickly enter the job market (source: AlmaLaurea, Graduate Profile 2020, XXII Survey 2021)
  • The courses are held in Novara, 28 km from Malpensa Airport and 40 km from Milan. The Department is located on a modern university campus at Caserma Perrone, Via Perrone 18, Novara. The campus also has halls of residence for out-of-town students.
