School for Conscious Citizenship 2020

How our regions work

The fourth edition of the School for Conscious Citizenship started in March 2020.

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the implementation of our regional system, it proposes a cycle of 10 lessons (each lasting two hours from 5.30pm to 7.30pm) dedicated to regional autonomy considered from different points of view.

The cycle of lectures offered a university-level study, accessible in language and content.

The lectures were held by Professor Massimo Cavino, the project leader.

The lessons were held in three locations: 

• in Novara: at Campus Perrone of Università del Piemonte Orientale, in via Perrone 18, in Novara (with carpark);
• in Vercelli: at the Conference Room of the Rettorato of Università del Piemonte Orientale, in via Duomo 6;
• in Varallo Sesia: in rooms made available by the Municipality of Varallo Sesia

with the following programme:

• The regional state: an Italian creation
• The events of Italian regionalism
• Ordinary and special regions and differentiated regionalism
• The division of legislative power between the State and the Regions
• The form of government of the Italian regions
• The regional electoral system
• State controls on the Regions and forms of connection
• The administrative functions of the Regions
• The Regions and the European Union
